5 Rules, Applied in Order
This is not a black box. Every match shown above is produced by checking a student's subject against these rules, in this exact order, until one applies.
RULE 1

Subject Proximity First

A track is recommended when its module content draws on knowledge the student's own syllabus already builds — e.g. Biotech Documentation maps to Botany/Zoology because lab-notebook standards and taxonomy documentation extend what those students already study, not something bolted on.

RULE 2

Career Pathway Second

Where subject proximity is broad (e.g. all of Commerce), tracks are further narrowed by the specific career the stream typically leads to — B.Com students get Financial Literacy & FinTech and Digital Marketing because these map directly to the roles B.Com graduates apply for.

RULE 3

Language & Arts Depth Third

For B.A. students, matching goes deeper than a single "Arts" bucket — Hindi/English Honours maps to Translation & Creative Writing; Political Science maps to Public Administration; Psychology maps to Psychology & Wellness; Sociology/History maps to Rural Development & Digital Archiving.

RULE 4

Universal Fallback

If a subject doesn't match any specific rule (e.g. an unusual combination, or a subject not yet in the mapping table), the system never leaves the student without an option — it shows the 3 universal tracks, useful regardless of degree subject, instead of a dead end.

RULE 5

Recommendation, Never Restriction

Matching guides a student unsure what to pick and helps the College's Internship Cell explain the programme department-by-department — it never gates access. Every student may choose any of the 15 tracks regardless of what the matcher recommends.
